How long does a tooth extraction take?

The dentist can complete the entire extraction process in around 30 - 40 minutes from start to finish. If the dentist pulls more than one tooth, expect it to take about ten more minutes per tooth. The average time for a tooth extraction depends, as several different factors influence it.

Factors that affect the time it takes the dentist to perform an extraction include:

  • The location of the tooth
  • Unique features of anatomy like jaw size
  • If the tooth is impacted or the roots aren't straight
  • the condition of the tooth- a damaged or infected tooth is harder to remove

Besides wisdom teeth removal, tooth extractions are typically a last resort when saving the tooth is no longer feasible. The tooth is removed for the health of the surrounding teeth, gums, and jawbone.

We believe in patient comfort and high-quality care. The process of tooth extraction is not painful.
